I don't listen to "talk Radio"... is is largely a waste of electricity, and we don't get some of the "Whackos" that populate much of America's air-waves. New Mexico's favorite "Nut-job" is Rush, but I have been recently made-aware of another. Your favorite COSTCO is now selling a book by one SEAN HANNITY; who I have learned is another 'RIGHT-WING, CONSERVATIVE, CRACK-POT, RADIO-HOST". His book features a sub-title refering to "Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism". He "lumps-toghether" these three phrases, hoping to draw some vague association between them. For any enlightened readers, I suggest you visit a site: "www.seanhannityisamoron.com"...... The TRUE experts on Despotism are found in the White-house, and are named : BUSH. Someone should remind Hannity that Ben Franklin, George Washington & Thomas Jefferson WERE ALL "LIBERALS" !!!!! And what is the difference between a "Freedom fighter" and a "terrorist"?? The "Minutemen" of Colonial America were considered "terrorists" by the British. The "terrorists" of Palestine are no-less "Freedom Fighters" than America's "Founding-Fathers". They have been persecuted, invaded, and mudered on a daily-basis for 30 years. Few Americans realized that SEVEN TIMES MORE PALESTINIANS ARE BEING KILLED, THAN ISRAELIS!! When the Palestinians are driven to desparation, they see no other recourse than the desparate acts of "suicide-bombers". "An eye-for-an-eye; and soon the world is blind". By the way, we have lost 622 American sons & daughters; since Bush proudly announced the "end of the war". Yesterday's total was 802, since the invasion.............. Dave

A.B.C. "Nightline" reported that the I.I.S.S. (International Institute of Strategic Studies) states in their recent report that Al Queda now has more than 19,000 operatives in more than 60 countries. The report details how Al Queda has become more of a "franchise" type of operation; no longer dependant on a hierarcy run by Bin Ladin.... Loosely organized "sleeper-cells" are now based all over the world, making it much more difficult to defeat them. They attack targets "of opportunity", such as the Spanish railway-bombings, and need very little money to fund their attacks. Estimates of the cost of attacking the World Trade Center are a mere $500,000, and only about $50,000 for the recent attacks in Spain. The figure of 19,000 is a conservative estimate, based on the number of "operatives" trained in Afghanistan. While some members may have been captured or disuaded by America's "War On Terror", the recent invasion in Iraq has served to recruit FAR MORE members. Much of the funding of "terrorist" activities is financed by the production of opium-poppies in Afghanistan. Our over-throw of the Taliban has resulted in a "bumper-crop" for opium-farmers in Afghanistan, as opium cultivation is no-longer prohibited. Much of the money derived from opium goes directly to "radical" Islamic terrorists, who feel that America is far-greater "evil" than the opium. "Nightline" stated that the Afghani production of opium this year will exceed 3000 tons.... Roughly 3/4 of the world's production ..As a result of the short-sighted policies of the Bush administration, we will soon see MASSIVE AMMOUNTS OF HEROIN being trafficked. Our national will soon see a huge rise in heroin-addiction, with the resulting surge in "organized-crime" and gang-warfare. When this happens, don't forget to thank George W. The Albuquerque ALIBI newspaper tells of ANOTHER example of "Homeland-Security", and the desparate failures thereof. (This incident was in Quebec, however). In an exercise to test the bomb-sniffing dogs at Trudeau airport, a jar of T.N.T was inadvertantly placed in an unwary passengers luggage. He discovered it after passing through security, and arriving at home. (The dogs also did not detect the explosives). I also was told the story of an Albuquerque policeman; who flew to Las Vegas. He unloaded his service-weapon and packed it in his "checked" luggage. When he arrived in Las Vegas, he was shocked to discover that he had inadvertantly packed 2 full clips of "live" ammunition in his carry-on luggage. The metal-detectors, x-rays, and bomb-sniffing dogs did not find them..... Makes you feel REALLY SAFE HUH????........ Dave
Today, C.B.S. News reported that 4 major oil-companies, (including Chevron, Exxon, and Shell), have received MILLIONS of dollars in Federal funds from Homeland-Security. These oil-companies have made BILLIONS OF DOLLLARS in profits, and can easily afford their own security. At the same time; local police-departments, transportation networks, harbors, and border-patrols have suffered from lack-of-funding. It seems that Bush's oil-connections are now paying off. These are the same oil-companies that have GENEROUSLY SUPPORTED "Dubyah" and his cronies. Terrorists usually choose targets that will maximize fatalities; NOT oil-refineries, or storage-facilities, (which are normally in sparsley-populated areas). Damage from a terrorist-attack on oil-companies has only slight economic-impact, and little "fear-value". Meanwhile, our subways, rail-hubs, seaports, and cities are grossly under-funded. If George Bush is not guilty of "treason"; he is, at the very-least, guilty of gross negligence and mis-management.........Dave
The "Department of Homeland Security" is another example of Bureaucractic-waste-in -action. See the "General Information Bulletin #2000-3 Produced by the Bomb Data Center; Weapons of Mass Destruction-Operations Unit".... This bulletin is posted in nearly EVERY Federal building in America; warning us how to detect "suspicious" mail. ..It is titled: "If You Receive A Suspicious Letter or Package"; and features a picture of a letter, and the words: "Possibly Mailed From a Foreign Country"........ and points to the "postmark". The only problem is, the POSTMARK IS FROM CINCINNATI, OHIO !!!! It would appear that the "Bomb Data Center, Weapons of Mass Destruction Operations Unit" thinks that CINCINNATI, OHIO IS A "FOREIGN COUNTRY"!!!! Meanwhile, our Government is spending 53 BILLION DOLLARS (in the next 5 years) to deploy a "Space-Based-Missle-Shield".... which DOESN'T WORK!!! YOUR TAX-DOLLARS AT WORK!!! So when "terrorists" attack, expect a "pre-emptive strike" on Ohio!!!! Dave
Howdy neighbors! I read an interesting fact yesterday, from the Jan. 2003 issue of National Geographic Magazine. They quoted a survey which found that only 13% of Americans could locate Iraq on a map of the world!! The Bush campaign is COUNTING on the "stupidity-factor" in order to get him re-elected. As George Carlin said: "imagine how stupid the "average-person" is... AT LEAST HALF OF THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD ARE MORE STUPID THAN THAT!!!" Also, one of "Dubyah's" top generals, (now retired) was on the news. He said that George's plan to "Stay the course" was "Headed over the Niagra Falls". DON'T TRUST SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER CHANGED HIS/HER MIND!! The recent t.v. spots for Bush feature such statements as: "Kerry said this, or Kerry said that".....If I want to know what Kerry said, I will listen to Kerry; not some "out-of-context" blurb, regurgitated and twisted for Bush's agenda. That technique is a favorite of "Rush-the-druggie-Limbaugh". He takes a fact or quote "out-of-context", and interprets & twists it to support some warped and perverted attack on "Those Liberals". Our Democracy, Constitution, Bill-of-Rights were all conceived by "Liberals". Check out the FRONTLINE P.B.S. feature called "The JESUS FACTOR". It details the warped theology that drives Bush to a militaristic, colonial agenda; with "God on his side". I also heard that the Democrats are going to have a T.V. music-concert; to be aired at the same time as the Republican National Convention.... an independant concert that will draw viewers from watching the convention. I occured to me that Basketball and Football teams usually have "cheerleaders"; and I wondered "Why do other sports NOT have them?" I then decided that other sports SHOULD have cheerleaders, if they are "appropriate" to the sport. So, for professional-Golfers: cheerleaders at least 55 years old, wearing ENORMOUS eyeglasses, dressed in very-ugly polyester slacks (Must have boobs that approach their waist).. For Professional-Hockey: Canadian cheerleaders with no-front-teeth, who attack the other cheerleaders. For Professional Baseball: Cheerleaders from Puerto Rico, Cuba, or the Dominican Republic, who chew tobacco, take steroids, and scratch themselves. For Professional-Bass-Fisherman: Fat, "White-Trash", beer-swilling divorcees, or "Trailer-Trash". For Professional Wrestling: (See "Bass Fishing") For Professional Horse-Racing: Midget-cheerleaders. For "NASCAR": cheerleaders who have actually dated someone with a "mullet". Professional Bowling or Curling: cheerleaders in "lederhosen" who know how to play the accordian and polka. Television Ads from the Bush camp have attacked John Kerry's voting record, claiming that he voted "against funding body armor for our troops". This "out-of-context", gross exageration is typical of Republican "mud-slinging". In reality, Kerry voted AGAINST the entire invasion of Iraq... the funding of body armor amounted to less than 1/3 of 1% of that cost!!! They claim that Kerry "voted against Abrams Tanks". The reality is that this vote occured YEARS AGO, at a time when ALL congressmen were trying to trim military costs. Most Americans do not realize that "political ads" DO NOT have laws to require "truth". Any T.V. commercial CANNOT make unsubstantiated-claims, by law. The same cannot be said for "political" spots. Candidates are legally allowed to SAY ANYTHING THEY PLEASE, and the "truth-be-damned!"!!!! The Bush-camp ahs lied, and distorted the truth SO many times, that it seems difficult to know what the truth actually is! The latest attack from the "Christian-Right",(which is neither "Christian", or "right") has come from the Catholic Church. A bishop from Colorado Springs has declared that anyone who VOTES for a "Pro-Choice" candidate cannot take communion, and has greviously-sinned.( The Catholic-Church, which has CONVENIENTLY overlooked it's own sins for decades!!!) (The pot-calling-the-kettle-black) The Constitution of the United States GUARANTEES "separation-of-church-and state"; and all organized-religions have sought protection from government-interference. Is it not conversely true that government must be protected from interference by organized-religion???? Recently, while the Congress in "recess", and in typical Bush-stealth, George appointed a Federal judge, who stated that it was time that we restored Christianity to America. This is SO totally WRONG for a Federal Judge to say; What about Jews? What about Muslims? What about Native Americans? Federal judges are supposed to enforce the Constitution, NOT inflict their own religion on others. Someone told me that George Bush had surgery last week... he had his lips removed from Pat Robertson's ass! "Dubyah's" "sucking-up" to the Evangelical Right-Wing has stopped medical-research in it's tracks. His stance on stem-cell-research has shackled the efforts of scientists to treat & cure dozens of diseases and maladies. Other nations will now gain advantage in developing gene-based therapies, and medicines. It seems that GEORGE believes that the "God" who told him to be President, also believes that a few non-descript cells in a petri-dish constitute "life", and are more important than the lives of actual-people who are suffering & dying from potentially-treatable diseases!!! How many frozen-embryos has the Catholic Church adopted, and raised to maturity?? "Pro-Lifers" attack and picket abortion-clinics, yet few ever have chosen to adopt an un-wanted child. Catholic priests would probably change their views, if MEN could "have babies"!! The Roman Catholic Church has a history of ignoring "Human-sexuality", (unless it involves priests and altar-boys), and now seeks to inflict their medieval values through political-influence. The most troubling part of recent-events is the vague blending of "Patriotism" with "religion". More harm has been done by those "with God on Our Side", than by any others. We have started down the "slippery-slope" from "Patriotism", to "Nationalism", to "Colonialism", to "Militarism"..... ALL WITH GOD ON OUR SIDE!! We must protect our democracy from zealots of ANY persuasion; Especially those who claim to be "speaking for God". IF "RELIGION IS PROTECTED FROM GOVERNMENT, THEN GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE PROTECTED FROM RELIGION"!!!!!!!! Dave

The Reuters News agency today reported that the "Union of Concerned Scientists" has also declared the "Missle Defense Shield" to be un-workable, and a waste of money. (See my previous "blog")... your tax dollars at work! It is unfortunate that in Albuquerque, many people's jobs are directly entwined in the "Military-Industrial-Complex". The Cannes Film Festival is beginning this week; it will be interesting to see how Michael Moore's new film (Farenheit 9-11) will fare. I have always wondered: if 95% of the World Trade Center attackers were from Saudi Arabia, why didn't we invade Saudi Arabia??? THAT'S WHERE THE TERRORISTS ARE !!!! SIDE-BAR: George W. Bush convinced Texas taxpayers to build a new stadium for the TEXAS RANGERS baseball team, thereby increasing their market-value ENORMOUSLY; He then sold all of his ownership in the team, reaping HUGE profits for himself & his investors/campaign-contributors. He also served as a "Finacial-officer" on the board of Harken Energy.... and sold his stock about 5 months before they went bankrupt! (Gee, I thought that "insider-trading" was illegal!... odd, how Martha Stewart is going to jail for similar, but much less serious offenses. Perhaps it's just A CO-INCIDENCE THAT SHE IS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR TO THE DEMOCRATS!!!) I have mentioned before about the "rules of disclosure", regarding Cheney's "Energy Policy Meetings". The Republicans have fought diligently to keep secret the details of meetings that Cheney had with Ken Lay of Enron, and other energy-insiders; weeks before the massive "rolling-blackouts" and price-spikes of energy in the entire West Coast. (Enron, co-incidentally OWNED most of the power-plants & distribution networks!) These same "rules of disclosure" did not protect Hillary Clinton's meetings with Health-Care executives, when she sought to reform our medicare system!! Now the matter has gone to the U.S. Supreme Court, where "The fix is in". The same justices who stopped the vote-count in Florida are now preparing to vote on the matter of these secret meetings. (One justice's wife works for the law-firm that represented Bush in the 2000 election, and Justice Anton Scalia recently vacationed with Dick Cheney, on a "hunting trip". I wonder if they were hunting for the truth, or a way to "weasel" out of this predicament??? I guess that Scalia has never heard of "conflict-of-interest". An interesting segment on P.B.S. FRONTLINE was entitled "George W. Bush, The Jesus Factor". check it out... It seems that "GOD" talks to George, and "told him to be president". It is no wonder that many Muslims despise America, and speak of a new "Crusades" against them! Bush is not-unlike the "radical" Muslim mullahs who preach "holy war"; he has FAILED to grasp the fundamental concepts of Christianity: (Love, Forgiveness, Grace, Compassion, Forgiveness, etc.), and yet calls himself "Christian". He brings new meaning to the concept of "hypocrisy". "What Would Jesus Do?"..... DEFINITELY NOT A "PRE-EMPTIVE" INVASION!!!! There are now more people who have died as a result of the invasion of Iraq, than all casualties from the 9-11 attacks. Yet NO "weapons of Mass Destruction" have been found, and NO links have been made between Al Queda and Saddam Hussein!; but Halliburton just keeps on "raking-in" the money.

Another example of "Your Tax Dollars At Work": The Pentagon is STILL working to deploy the "Missle Defense Shield", a system designed over 21 years ago; inspired by the demented actor/president Ronald Reagan. (see also "Star Wars" defense) This "exo-atmoshpheric Kill Vehicle" has only a 1 DEGREE "field of vision", SEVERLY limiting it's effectiveness. It also can be easily fooled by "dummy-warheads" covered with metallic foil. The tests of this system have been effective only 5 out of 8 times, using only ONE warhead-target, and NO "decoys". This obsolete, ill-conceived system is designed to protect us from I.C.B.M.s; The only nations capable of actually reaching the continental U.S. with such missles are: Russia & ....... well, ONLY Russia!! We are in FAR greater danger of being attacked by terrorists via "cargo-containers" in American seaports. The most outrageous part of this vast waste-of-money is the cost: IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS, THE PROJECTED COST IS 53 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!! How can we expect "no child left behind", when such monies are spent on folly? How many teachers could be hired for $53,000,000,000 ???? How many textbooks could be bought? How many Border Patrol Agents could we hire?? How much of the "National Debt" could we eliminate?? How much of Social Security could we underwrite? How much of Medicare could be funded??? Yet $53 BILLION DOLLARS is going to the Raytheon Corp. to build a "white-elephant". Tell your Congressman to STOP THIS LUNACY!!! I saw a tee-shirt today that said "Homeland Security, Protecting America Since 1492" and had pictures of Native-Americans tied-up & shackled. Kind of reminds me of the bumper sticker: "Sure we can trust the Government; just ask an Indian!" New Mexicans have a decided dislike for pushy, arrogant Texans; and I saw an excellent example of "bathroom grafitti": "Here I sit, My sphincter flexin', just gave birth, to another Texan! " I think it should be: "Here I sit, flexin-touche; just squeezed out, another Bush !!!! " Another popular bumper-sticker here is: "Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing it's idiot". It seems that Disney/ Miramax finds the new Michael Moore movie , (Farenheit 9-11), "too political" to distribute. The movie details the lengthy relations between the Bush dynasty, and the Bin Ladens. The Bin Ladens and other Saudis have business-partners with the Bush family for more than 20 years. (on 9/12/01; when all American airlines were "grounded"; George W. Bush chartered private flights for almost 200 members of the Bin Laden family, to return to Saudi-Arabia. NONE of them were "detained", "questioned", or "interogated" about their links to Osama's terror-network. While Bill Clinton & Al Gore COULD NOT GET FLIGHTS, the Bin Ladins were secretly "whisked-away" on Tax-payer-funded chartered jets. Michael Moore's new movie documents such treason, but apparently the Disney organization gets multi-million-dollar "tax-incentives" in Florida..... COINCIDENTALLY GOVERNED BY JEB BUSH!!!! Disney, however, seems to be adept at fanning the flames of blind-patriotism... (this week they intend to release the video: "Miracle"..the story of the American-Olympic-hockey team) Such a "feel-good" movie is fine, as long as it doesn't encourage people to BLINDLY accept the Government's actions; in the name of "Patriotism"!!! THE MOST PATRIOTIC THING ANYONE CAN DO, IS TO QUESTION THE ACTIONS & MOTIVES OF THEIR GOVERNMENT !!!! Bush's corrupt influence-peddling has even permeated the "Happiest-place-on-earth"; corporations cower from the truth, afraid to "offend" the "Man-who-would-be-king" and his minions. Bush once spoke about the "Liberals"; and made disparaging remarks about many Democratic leaders; including former President Jimmy Carter. I ask: " How many NOBEL PEACE PRIZES HAS GEORGE BUSH WON???" Bush cannot even make a speech, without "reading it" word-for-word...."Verbatum" as written by his speech-writers. He frequently makes mistakes READING THEM !!! (Today's speech referred to Iraqis as "Iraqs".) He continues to support Donald Rumsfeld; after he covered-up the recent prison-attrocities in Iraq, and "under-estimated" the necessary troop-strength needed to secure Iraq. (the Pentagon requested 300,000 troops; but "Dumbsfeld" insisted on a mere 130,000) A psycological-study has found that, in a large study-group where some of the members are "undecided" about a particular issue; they overwhelmingly favor the majority-stance, REGARDLESS OF THE FACTS!!! I guess that most Americans are too lazy to find-out the truth about "issues"; chosing rather to follow-blindly the most "popular" stance. Some other movie-studio will undoubtedly choose to distribute Moore's movie; after all, his last one won the Academy Award and the Cannes Film Festival award for "Best Documentary". WE CANNOT TOLERATE BUSH'S TREASONOUS, CORRUPT POLICIES AND ADMINISTRATION!! HIS UTTER CONTEMPT FOR INTERNATIONAL-LAW, AND AMERICAN LAW IS UN-EQUALLED IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA. ( I have personally talked to many "elderly" Americans who feel Bush is "the worst president " America has ever had!) His Medicare plan continues to complicate a bureaucracy that is second only to that of the I.R.S.. (Remember when he promised to "streamline" and "simplify" our government??) Such changes serve only as "smoke& mirrors" to disguise the fact that MOST Americans will end up paying HIGHER prescription-drug prices!! and insure the exhorbitant profits expected by the Bush-campaign-contributors... Monday, May 3rd 2004; the Wall Street Journal ran an article about the recent changes to Medicare. It seems that the "head" of Medicare wanted to publically release the cost-estimates of the changes. He was subsequently treatened by the Bush administration with loss-of-his-job , if he made his estimates public. According to the Wall Street Journal, this is a blatant violation of Federal-Law. It seems that Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld have NO regard for domestic-law as well as international-law. The "outing" of a C.I.A. operative by the Bush cabinet has largely been forgotten by the public; though it is clearly constitutes "treason. The illegal-invasion of a "sovreign" nation is another clear violation of international-law. Now Bush is asking Congress for an ADDITIONAL 25 BILLION DOLLARS FOR HIS ILL-CONCEIVED, ILLEGAL INVASION!!! How dare he ask American tax-payers to support his mis-guided, ill-advised war??? He has squanderd the largest Federal-budget-surplus in history, wants 87 Billion dollars, PLUS another 25 Billion to pay for his war!! Meanwhile, Americans are losing their jobs at an alarming rate; many increases in the "employment-rate" are the result of Americans having to hold-down TWO jobs instead of one!!! Here in New Mexico, the Albuquerque Public Schools are facing a budget-short-fall of 40 million dollars. Federal education funding has all-but "dried-up", and teachers are being "laid-off"; while Bush touts an un-workable plan called "No Child Left Behind"... Any teacher will tell you that this plan is impractical, and un-workable. The changes made to Medicare have only served to confuse people, maintain the exhorbitant profits of drug-companies, and place a larger burden on those who don't qualify for Medicare! Bush's second-largest campaign-contributor was the Pharmaceutical Industry !!!! Who's interest is being served?? Surely not the American public!!! Bush continues to tell us we must "stay the course" in Iraq. It seems oddly reminiscent of the "Titanic".... who also "stayed the course"!!!
