Another example of "Your Tax Dollars At Work": The Pentagon is STILL working to deploy the "Missle Defense Shield", a system designed over 21 years ago; inspired by the demented actor/president Ronald Reagan. (see also "Star Wars" defense) This "exo-atmoshpheric Kill Vehicle" has only a 1 DEGREE "field of vision", SEVERLY limiting it's effectiveness. It also can be easily fooled by "dummy-warheads" covered with metallic foil. The tests of this system have been effective only 5 out of 8 times, using only ONE warhead-target, and NO "decoys". This obsolete, ill-conceived system is designed to protect us from I.C.B.M.s; The only nations capable of actually reaching the continental U.S. with such missles are: Russia & ....... well, ONLY Russia!! We are in FAR greater danger of being attacked by terrorists via "cargo-containers" in American seaports. The most outrageous part of this vast waste-of-money is the cost: IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS, THE PROJECTED COST IS 53 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!! How can we expect "no child left behind", when such monies are spent on folly? How many teachers could be hired for $53,000,000,000 ???? How many textbooks could be bought? How many Border Patrol Agents could we hire?? How much of the "National Debt" could we eliminate?? How much of Social Security could we underwrite? How much of Medicare could be funded??? Yet $53 BILLION DOLLARS is going to the Raytheon Corp. to build a "white-elephant". Tell your Congressman to STOP THIS LUNACY!!! I saw a tee-shirt today that said "Homeland Security, Protecting America Since 1492" and had pictures of Native-Americans tied-up & shackled. Kind of reminds me of the bumper sticker: "Sure we can trust the Government; just ask an Indian!" New Mexicans have a decided dislike for pushy, arrogant Texans; and I saw an excellent example of "bathroom grafitti": "Here I sit, My sphincter flexin', just gave birth, to another Texan! " I think it should be: "Here I sit, flexin-touche; just squeezed out, another Bush !!!! " Another popular bumper-sticker here is: "Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing it's idiot".
