A recent attendee at a "Peace" rally advised the participants : "Be sure to wear you best "peace" outfit at the next protest!!"..... Undoubtedly some tie-dyed, Gratefull Dead shirt with a rainbow-colored wig. These people "just don't get it"... If they want to be "taken-seriously", if they want their message to be heard, they CANNOT look like escapees from the local mental-hospital!! They cannot present SERIOUS issues while looking like circus-clowns! "Peace-protestors" must look like "average" Americans, like Grandmothers, like school-children, like bankers, like lawyers. The anti-war message cannot spread, unless others can "Identify" with the protestors.... Unless they "see-themselves" in the faces of the protesting crowd. "Peace-protests" must look like a gathering of concerned, patriotic, rational Americans.... NOT the latest "Gay-Pride" parade!!If you want to "Subvert the dominant paradigm" look like "One of THEM"!!! So, the next time you feel like protesting, put on a suit... wear your "Sunday-Best", carry an American flag, get a hair-cut; but leave the bell-bottoms and "love-beads" at home!
