Today on FOX t.v. Walter Cronkite was interviewed about his opinions of the Iraq war. Having spent years in Viet Nam, and witnessing that futile, ill-advised war; he has PLENTY of insight & wisdom . He stated, eloquently and insightfully, that the invasion of Iraq was not-only ill-conceived; but poorly planned and "thought-out" as well. He expressed the view that America had NO BUSINESS INVADING IRAQ!! It has recently occured to me, that Florida claims to be "The Sunshine State". However, the state of New Mexico receives MORE sunshine per-square-foot; exceeded only by Arizona. It seems that The State of Florida is AGAIN engaged in deception. Similarly, George W. Bush, this week appointed a new head of the F.B.I.; ALSO FROM FLORIDA. The "OLD-BUDDY" system is alive and well in Jeb Bush's state. While I was writing this, I happened to hear a Bush-T.V. spot. He claims that Kerry "voted against" weapons-systems that our troops need to "fight the war on terror". A typical distortion, Kerry ACTUALLY voted against the ENTIRE funding-package of the illegal invasion of Iraq. Bush has "spun" Kerry's opposition to the war into a vague attack of Kerry's support for our troops; When NOTHING could be further from the truth!! WHERE ARE BUSH'S MEDALS??? WHERE ARE HIS "SERVICE-RECORDS"??? WHY AREN'T HIS DAUGHTERS ENLISTED IN THE NATIONAL GUARD???? In another development, Cheney's hunting-buddy (Anton Scalia) voted against the disclosure of secret energy-policy-meeting details. (What a surprise!!!......NOT!!!!!) The Republican-controlled Supreme Court has managed to delay the examination of those secret meetings, which involved Enron's Ken Lay and resulted in "rolling-blackouts" on the west coast. When Hillary Clinton was asked to divulge similar details of her meetings regarding Health-Care providers, she gladly complied. The Bush administration claims that such meetings should remain "confidential" to avoid undermining their ability to obtain advice. Since we have a "Freedom of Information Act", and a guaranteed right to scrutinize our public-officials; why should they be allowed to hold secret meetings with well-connected corporate-insiders??? Such corruption is OUTRAGEOUS!!! Enron's ownership of west-coast energy production & distribution resulted in the financial-ruin of California's economy, and the subsequent ousting of Governor Gray Davis..... and the installation of REPUBLICAN ARNOLD SCHWARTZENEGGER !!!!!COINCIDENCE??? I THINK NOT!! John Kerry's campaign-stop in New Mexico, (a "swing-State"), was conveniently derailed by the Senate's call for a vote on an important bill. The bill was then post-poned, (again by Republicans), to disrupt his next trip to "fund-raise" in California. The "Dirty-tricks" know no limits!!!! They have also attempted to block the advertising for Michael Moore's movie, FARENHEIT 9-11, claiming that they feature images of Bush, and are therefore "campaign-advertising", and subject to campaign-finance laws. They failed in their attempt to pressure Disney/Miramax to stop distribution of the film... (Disney receives massive tax-benefits for their Disney World-Epcot Center business in Jeb Bush's State of Florida) They are NOW attempting to stop an independantly filmed, written, produced, and financed movie by claiming that it is a "campaign-ad". The Democratic Party, and John Kerry HAVE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PRODUCTION OF THIS MOVIE!!!! The Republican Party apparently hopes to convince their "puppet Supreme Court" to bend-the-rule-of-law AGAIN!!!! DAVE
